Centre Island Long Island

Centre Island Long Island is an Incorporated Village in Nassau County.  It is a 605 acre peninsula with over four miles of coast line bordered by Cold Spring Harbor, Oyster Bay Harbor, and Long Island Sound.

It is part of Long Island’s Famed North Shore in the Town of Oyster Bay. Incorportated in 1926, Centre Island today retains much of its rural charm, andonly a few residences are visible from the road.  In the late 1800’s Centre Island was a summer destination for yachtsmen when the Seawanhaka Corinthian Yacht Club opened.  The village became an enclave for the very wealthy who built their seaside manors here.  Noted for its unspoiled landscape, Centre Island, which is located in the Oyster Bay-East Norwich School District #6, continues its tradition of palatial estates surrounded by the picturesque waters of Long Island’s Harbors.  There are no street signs and little traffic in this zip code of 11771.  Driving onto the island,  visitors can’t help but notice the harmonious charms of this enclave.    According to public records,  homes in Centre Island sold in 2008 from $613,000 for a small Colonial to $12,500,000 for a 15 room Waterfront Estate.
